We are pleased to announce the completion of our processing platform designed for camera applications. The system connects the camera to the main board via a 1-meter flex cable, allowing for flexible and far-distance camera installations. The main board handles image data processing and retrieval by command, providing a reliable and efficient solution for many…

Last week EMM participated in the corporate B2run held at Olympiapark, Munich. The event brought together business from across indusries for a day focused on team-building, networking, and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. Our team took part in the 5-kilometer run, enjoying the opportunity to connect with colleagues in a different setting and engage with…

We present our updated design combining the modules SPM and SPS into a Smart Processing and Power Module (SPPM). The Smart Processing and Power Module (SPPM) is an advanced modular hardware stack that integrates the Smart Processing Module (SPM) and Secondary Power Supply (SPS). Built around Microchip’s PolarFire SoC FPGA, the SPM combines 4 RISC-V…

We are thrilled to announce the successful delivery of a first flight model of our Heater Control Unit, a critical component designed to maintain optimal temperatures for mission success in the extreme conditions of space. Developed over 1.5 years, the Heater Control Unit has undergone design, testing and qualification for a New Space project. This…
This month EMM attended ESA conferences to present our progress on the Smart Processing Module and Smart Power Supply. Chedi Fassi presented the system-on-module, developed in the frame of our ESA BIC incubation project, at the first edition of European Data Handling and Data Processing Conference EDHPC in Juan-Les-Pins, France. Markus Plattner was invited to…

EMM published a paper within the project PLUTO (Processor Layout Utilization for Thermal Optimization) on the Forum on specification & Design Languages (FDL) 2023 which took place in Turin, Italy. PLUTO is a research project that is co-funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affiars, Regional Development, and Energy. With the Laboratory for Product Development…
A preliminary vibration test was conducted for our electronic unit to verify assembly procedure and load transfer paths of adapters. The tests proved structural integrity of the housing and showed no degradation of functionality. The preliminary tests showed that the loads can be applied with the specimen properties, however, there is some improvement in adapter…
We have successfully tested a heater control board for our on-going NewSpace project. Our thermal vacuum chamber was capable to thermally cycle from -15 to 60°C and the electronic board was fully functional for the complete test duration. With the test data, a procedure for calibration of test sensors is developed. Next coming will be…
Preliminary tests of nonvolatile test arrays with Co-60 source at Fraunhofer INT demonstrated a Total Ionising Dose (TID) compatibility of at least 50 krad. This allows for SEE testing as the next verification step!
In the ESA project SpaceNVM, nonvolatile memory devices have been developed by our partner, NaMLab gGmbH. Together, we have demonstrated that these prototype components can be operated with the radiation test set-up developed by EMM without performance degradation compared to tests with NaMLab laboratory equipment. Next stop: Total Ionising Dose testing.
